“You can get pregnant when you’re on your period”

The Truth is: You can get pregnant if you have sex during your period and you don’t use contraception or a condom. Having unprotected sex at any time of the month can lead to pregnancy, so always use contraception to protect against pregnancy, and condoms to protect against STIs.

 

“Sperm can survive, and cause pregnancy, for up to seven days in a woman’s body after sex”

The Truth is: Sperm can live inside a woman after sex, sometimes for up to seven days, and fertilize an egg to make a woman pregnant.

 

“You can increase penis length by using creams”

The Truth is: You can’t make your penis longer by using creams, or by doing exercises or taking medication.

 

“The average penis length is 8-10cm”

The Truth is: The average length of a non-erect penis is around 8-10cm. Penises come in all shapes and sizes, and the size doesn’t affect how much you and your partner enjoy having sex. Knowing the things that make you and your partner feel good is more important than the size of your penis.

 

“If your breasts have developed you are ready to have sex”

The Truth is: Having breasts does not mean a girl is ready for sex. A girl’s breasts start to develop at puberty, around age 10 to 16, but this doesn’t mean she should start having sex, or that she will feel ready. Having sex is a very personal decision, and she might not feel ready to have a sexual relationship for months or years. It is a personal choice.

 

“If a condom breaks and you are not using another form of contraception as well, there are things you can do to stop getting pregnant?”

The Truth is: Emergency Contraception can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex, or if your contraception might have failed. There are two types- the emergency pill and the IUD. You can take the emergency pill up to 120 hours after sex, but it;s more effective the sooner you take it.
