Orientation on Cyber Crime and Law Enforcemenent

Orientation on Cyber Crime and Law Enforcement, Marie Stopes Center Putalisadak, August 17, 2016: Our pop-up volunteers receive a lot of queries on cyber crime when organizing “Sexual Reproductive Health” session in schools and colleges. We organized an orientation session on ‘Cyber Crime and Law Enforcement’ in coordination with the Cyber Crime Branch of Nepal Police. DSP Pashupati Ray and Cons. Dayaram Chalise facilitated the session.

The main highlight of the session was on maintaining privacy in social media and how social media can turn into devastation if we are not careful about what information we are putting in. He said that cyber crime is happening as a Target or Tools or both. Bullying, threatening, misusing the photos and videos are the most common cases of cyber crime in Nepal. Social media related crimes are happening through illegal access or through hacking.

The Electronic Transaction Act(ETA) was formed in 2008 in Nepal of which Chapter 9 is related to Cyber Crime.  If anyone is facing the violence, threatening, bullying, fraud they can call to – 100 and report the case.

When you are using social media, Rockets & Space Team requests you to STOP, THINK and CONNECT– Be safe, #beresponsible.
